This article is the result of monitoring the natural dynamics of evolution and application of experiments to recover degraded areas inside and around a gully located at the Experimental Farm of Campus Glória, belonging to the Federal University of Uberlândia, in Uberlândia - MG. This erosive feature is in an advanced stage of evolution, with an outcrop of the water table, steep walls and a steep head. The follow-up through several surveys carried out in the area covers a period of 15 years, with the implementation of experimental tests of recovery in the surroundings and interior of the erosive form, which aimed to measure the results of the proposed interventions, whether physical, edaphic or biotic. The studies showed that the evolution of a gully is a complex process, which in the seasonal tropical climate environment, with dry winters and rainy summers, has a close correlation with the pluviometric processes, being conditioned by the geometry of the slopes and soil-water interaction. At the same time, the intense role of human activities was observed, which directly through management techniques generate positive impacts on the recovery of liabilities, or indirectly, promoting their intensification through fires in adjacent regions, which can negatively interfere in the recovery process, removing practices of conservationist management already adopted.
